We have many volunteers assisting us at the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter in our various departments.
We have volunteers who help within our kennel department and help with the morning routine of cleaning the kennels. Once the cleaning has been completed it is then time to walk and spend time with our dogs that are looking for new homes.
We have volunteers who work within our Cattery department. Each kennel is cleaned individually and whilst this is being done it gives the cat time to stretch their legs and explore! After cleaning extra attention is then given to allow the cats to play and have lots of cuddles and fuss.
Some volunteers spend time with our smaller animals such as rabbits, hamsters, chinchillas and rats. Socialising and giving them attention helps the animals become used to handling before they go to their new homes.
We also have volunteers working within our Clinic department. This offers an insight into a wide range of animals currently in our care. Volunteers are able to spend time with our cats, rabbits, exotics and also wildlife.
Having volunteers assisting our staff on a daily basis ensures that our animals are receiving extra attention and fuss. This is so important to make their kennel experience less stressful and as enjoyable as possible.
Our volunteers work between the hours of 8am to 5pm – Monday – Sunday.
Unfortunately we are unable to offer volunteering before 8am and after 5pm. Therefore if you are unable to help during the week, maybe a weekend would be suitable?
If you would like the opportunity to volunteer at the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter, please complete the attached application form. Our volunteer Co-Ordinator Barbara Keywood will be in touch with you shortly.
