*** PLEASE NOTE WE HAVE EXTENDED THE DEADLINE TO SUNDAY 5TH SEPTEMBER ***
The JSPCA is thrilled to announce the launch of its Young Photographer Competition, kindly sponsored by Brewin Dolphin in the Channel Islands.
From now until 31st August, the JSPCA is encouraging children up to the age of 18 to grab their phones or cameras and get snapping to try to win the top prize of £500, inclusion of their photo in an Exhibition and the chance to feature on the 2022 JSPCA Animals’ Shelter calendar.
“We have decided on two subjects for the photos,” said Michelle Parker, PR, Media and Fundraising Manager for the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter. “There’s Picture Perfect Pets, where we want to see all manner of domestic animals in their home environment, and there’s Wild About Wildlife, which is all about getting out and about for weekend walks and enjoying the natural beauty around us and hopefully snapping some of our wonderful local wildlife.”
The two subjects look to reflect the work that the JSPCA carries out in Jersey for the wildlife and domestic animals of the Island.
The competition has three different age categories : Under 11 years, 11-13 years and 14-18 years, where entrants can enter up to 10 images for either/both subject(s). Entries cost £3 per photo.
“We are hoping to see a whole variety of skills on show, from those who have just picked up a camera to students undertaking photography at school and those who wish to make this their future profession,” Michelle added.
All submissions for the Competition could then potentially be used on JSPCA Animals’ Shelter promotional material, social media and the website.
Mark Miles, head of office at wealth manager Brewin Dolphin (Jersey) said, “The JSPCA’s Young Photographer Competition is a great initiative for a good cause, which will bring budding photographers together (at the very least virtually). The interesting themes of ‘Picture Perfect Pets’ and ‘Wild About Wildlife’ will capture the balance between our beloved domestic pets and the wonderful wildlife to be found in the Channel Islands. We are thrilled to be sponsoring this initiative, and look forward to seeing the array of creative, young talent that will emerge.”
