All About Me

Do you have the perfect fish tank for our very special Blackmoor, Goldy?

Goldy is a lovely Blackmoor fish in need of a loving home.

Goldy was rescued when a lovely workman was doing some maintenance in a house and noticed there was something actually alive in a small orb tank filled with dirty water. With the owners permission they brought Goldy to the JSPCA to look after and eventually rehome once we knew she was healthy.

Living in such a cramped space meant that Goldy’s tail is a little crooked as she’s had to grow in the small space she had. We sometimes also catch her swimming in a small circle, as that was what she was used to in her previous tank, even though she’s in a much bigger tank now.

Even though Goldy has these quirks she still has a good quality of life, the majority of time she spends sifting through the stones at the bottom of the tank and attacking her java fern. Goldy does seem depressed when not living with other fish but she is a little slower because of her tail so will need to live with fish that wont bully her, she is currently living with a pleco which suit her nicely.

Goldy is a very large blackmoor so will need a tank with decent space. As Blackmoors are a type of goldfish and are a cold water fish she can only go in a tank with a maximum temperature of 24oC.

If you are interested in adopting Goldy then please fill in an application form here https://jspca.org.je/register-to-rehome/

The staff will ask you for proof of address from the past 2 months and landlords permission (if you’re in rented accommodation). The staff will also need to see photos of your tank to ensure its the perfect home for Goldy 🤗
