Kazuco is looking for a new home. He is an adorable 25 year old blue headed pionus. He’s a little nervous when you first meet him but after some time he’ll warm to you and tell you what a “good boy” he is.
In his previous home Kazuco created a strong bond with men in the house and shown jealousy towards women so we’d recommend for him to go to an owner with good knowledge of bird behaviour. Kazuco is well behaved with the female staff at the shelter but we try and refrain from letting parrots on our shoulder and recognise behaviour ques that a tantrum is coming on.
Kazuco has learnt a few phrases and could possibly learn more, currently he can say “hello baby” and “who’s a good boy”. Kazuco would love and indoor home as he likes to perch on top of his cage and be among people.
He’ll need a cage at least 2’ x 2’ x 3’ in a well ventilated but not too drafty room, air quality is very important for birds. Also because of their intelligence all parrots need enrichment and regular interaction with either people or their own kind.
If you are interested in adding this clever boy to your family please pop in between 2 and 4 pm and fill out an application form to meet him. If you wish to reserve Kazuco we will need proof of address dated within the last 2 months and if you live in rented accommodation we will need permission for you to keep this species from your landlord.
