JSPCA & Covid-19

The situation around the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak continues to change and the information on this page will be updated regularly. You should use this as the main source of information about the JSPCA’s response to this situation.

We would like to reassure all of our customers that we have updated some of our policies in order to best look after our customers and staff.

JSPCA - Closed to public

Following the Government’s guidance and best practice in response to the Coronavirus (COVID-19), we are significantly reducing the number of people on site at the JSPCA.

This means from 20th March 2020 until further notice the site is closed to the general public (excluding the circumstances listed below):

-Existing appointments

-Buying food from the shelter

-Emergency circumstances

When you come into our Reception area you MUST wear a face mask, unless for medical reasons. We also ask that just one person is in Reception at a time.

8am – 5pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday

9am – 5pm Wednesday and Saturday

We currently don’t need any extra bedding or food supplies, but please keep an eye on our Facebook page for the latest appeals of items. You can still help us by buying something we specifically need from our Amazon wishlist or you can donate via our Support Us Campaign.

Veterinary Appointments

As of 12th April 2021 we are able to welcome one client at a time into the consulting room to be with their pet during their appointment. We ask that facial masks must be worn during the appointment, please maintain physical distancing where possible, and for appointments to take no longer than 15 minutes. The vet may ask you to wait outside or in a separate room if needed. For those clients that are exempt from wearing a facial mask, we will still be able to undertake your pets appointment but we ask for your appointment to be conducted outside for the safety of our staff.

As of 12th April 2021 we are still unable to undertake Vet Nurse appointments.

Emergency Appointments

If you’re worried your pet requires urgent, emergency treatment or are unsure what to do, please telephone us straight away on 01534 724331.

Yes, you can collect repeat prescriptions which have been ordered at least 24 hours prior.

If you are unable to collect your repeat prescription due to self isolation please provide us with the name of the person collecting it on your behalf.

If you are self isolating but require one of our services, please telephone us so we can discuss the best course of action.

During this uncertain time we have had to cancel crucial face to face fundraising activities, as have our supporters. Therefore, if you can donate and share our campaign to raise funds we would be very grateful. CAMPAIGN:  https://www.justgiving.com/campaign/JSPCASupportUs
