After the loss of a pet, it can be a very sad, difficult and lonely time. Feelings of despair, depression and guilt can creep in, as well as self-doubt, especially when you have had to make the difficult decision to euthanase or rehome your pet. Going through grief is normal and it shows the true friendship, love and bond you had with your pet. Not everyone understands grief, especially when it comes to the loss of a pet, which in hand makes this a very lonely time for most people.
The JSPCA understands that when we are going through that grieving process it is important to have an outlet to use.
If you would like to speak to someone please call the Blue Cross Bereavement Service on 0800 096 6606. Alternatively, the Blue Cross has a range of literature available to be downloaded including;

The JSPCA staff have undergone bereavement training provided by the Blue Cross. This training has not only helped the staff support members of the public who have lost a pet but also their colleagues and themselves during those difficult times.
The JSPCA Pet Cemetery is located at First Tower. This is a quiet and tranquil place open to the public 24/7, 365 days of the year. If you would like to discuss having a plot at the Pet Cemetery, please ring our reception team on 724331 and they will be able to assist with your enquiry.
Pet Memorial Service
In addition to the Bereavement Service, the JSPCA hold an annual Pet Memorial Service in early June, to commemorate World Pet Memorial Day, at their Pet Cemetery in First Tower. This provides members of the public, and staff, the opportunity to reflect, remember their pet and come together to support each other.
