Feeling snug!

The JSPCA Animals’ Shelter is now the proud owner of two intensive care units for small animals, thanks to a very kind donation from First Choice Groceries. These will be vital as springtime and ‘baby season’ approaches, providing a safe, warm environment in which to care for injured small animals and orphaned wildlife.

Eszter Saly, Branch Manager at First Choice Groceries said, “We at First Choice Groceries are all animal lovers and very passionate about supporting a good cause. JSPCA is doing an excellent job and when we were selecting our charities in 2020, before our launch, it wasn’t even a question that we want to support them. Being able to contribute towards the incubators they need and knowing that they will help lots of innocent animals warms our heart. We are extremely happy to be able to support them and we are going to support them as much as possible in the future.”
During 2020, the JSPCA assisted with a total of 1,641 wildlife, including many orphans who would not have survived if they had not come into the care of the Animals’ Shelter.
“We are so fortunate to be supported by First Choice Groceries,” said Michelle Parker, PR, Media and Fundraising Manager at the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter. “They have not only helped us with this wonderful donation for purchasing the incubators, but they also provide fruit and vegetables for the animals that they are no longer able to sell. It’s donations like this that make a real difference to the lives of animals in Jersey and we are so grateful for all the support we are offered.”

This donation follows an appeal by the JSPCA Animals’ Shelter for knitted nests that resulted in members of the public sending in over 200 knitted nests for baby birds.

“The support for our local wildlife and the services we provide at the Animals’ Shelter has been phenomenal. We are so grateful to everyone who is helping us to help the animals of Jersey,” said Michelle.
