All About Me

Lola is a stunning 2 ½ year old Eclectus Parrot.

Lola has been hand reared in Jersey. Lola has only been with us for a short while so she is only just starting to warm up to us and show her personality but she seems to be a chatty gentle girl.

Her previous owners reported that she had increasing episodes of aggression since they became unable to give her the exercise and enrichment she needed, this boredom and lack of attention could have been the cause of her frustration. Before this Lola had a happy strong bond with her primary care giver. At the moment we are giving Lola her space as she settles in so we are unable to tell how she reacts to being handle but from her previous owners report it seems she would spend a lot of time on her carer’s shoulder and was very good at being handle into and out of her cage.

Eclectus parrots are very quiet birds who love nothing more than to observe their surroundings, they also don’t usually form bonds with only one family member so an inside cage in an active family room would be perfect for Lola. Given Lola’s aggressive past we don’t recommend she go to a home with young children.

Eclectus parrots can learn a large range of vocabulary, so far Lola has learnt to say hello, Lola and Hola, it also sounds as if she has learnt to mimic a car alarm noise. Lola has plenty of time to learn other words and phrases as Eclectus parrots can live up to 40 years and in some cases 60 years.

If you are interested in adding Lola to your family please pop in between 2 and 4 pm Monday – Friday and fill out an application either in person or online https://jspca.org.je/register-to-adopt/
